A decree issued in 2016 on banks and public and other financial institutions also came under debate along wih the issue of confiscated assets, the Presidency of the Republic said. The President said there is need to issue the order on the Council of Regions and Districts and draft a law to organise the relationship between the two chambers of the legislative body – the Assembly of People’s Representatives and the Council of Regions and Districts- following the holding of regional and local elections. Hirings need to be reviewed in ministries in a first stage and at the level of the governent subsequently as many were driven by party allegiance. It is likewise imperative to enforce law and combat corruption in banks and other financial insritutions, President Saied further said. An end must be brought to the “farce” of devaluing confiscated assets and selling them at the cheapest prices to “specific people”, the Head of State further said. The judiciary needs to play its role and uphold the rule of law.
