Certification of Bobo airport: The aerodrome ready to receive all airlines

Bobo-Dioulasso: The Ministry of Transport, Urban Mobility and Road Safety, closed the certification audits of Bobo-Dioulasso International Airport on Friday, May 3, 2024 in the town of Sya. Recommendations have been made and will be implemented to enable the aerodrome to receive airlines from wherever they come. The certification audits of Bobo-Dioulasso International Airport which lasted two weeks made eight strong recommendations. They relate to the infrastructural, personal, or procedural level. An action plan will be established for the implementation of all the recommendations made by the auditors. This action plan will be subject to validation by the national authority, the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC). Once validated, this plan will be implemented. The results of the execution of the plan will be submitted again to the ANAC which will ensure what is done on the ground. It will then be able to issue and publish the certificate depending on the level of implementation of the action plan. I t was the Secretary General of the Ministry of Transport, Urban Mobility and Road Safety, Kiswendé Alice Ouédraogo, who chaired the closing meeting of the certification audits of Bobo airport, this Friday, May 3, 2024. She invited the team of auditors to send their report as soon as possible to the various entities concerned, in order to give them tools for planning corrective actions falling under their responsibility. Operators were asked to implement the recommendations through an action plan to correct the imperfections identified during the two weeks to strengthen aircraft safety so that at the end of the process, the airport can have certification. 'When we have this certification, it will demonstrate that both nationally and internationally, we respect the regulations in terms of safety and also security at the aeronautics level. Which means that our airport is ready to receive any company wherever it comes from,' underlined Ms. Ouédraogo. The delegate of the Director General of the Agency for Air Navigation Safety in Africa and Madagascar (ASECNA), Saturnin Théophile Bikienga reassured that 'Bobo airport will have high level certification, because the bar has been placed very high. According to him, all imperfections will be corrected and the infrastructure to be built will be done quickly for the safety of property and people. The certification audits of Bobo-Dioulasso International Airport which took place from April 22 to May 3, 2024 focused on the competence and experience of staff, the compliance of facilities, services and equipment with international standards, the effectiveness of operational safety and security procedures and the establishment of robust and effective security management systems. The audits carried out by experts from Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast and Niger aimed to bring the international airport into compliance with national and international regulations issued by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
