Mouhoun: The Communal Coordination of Citizen Watch Associations of Bondoukuy, in the province of Mouhoun, celebrated, this Friday, August 15, 2025 in the village of Ouakara, the first anniversary of its creation, under the theme: 'Youth of the commune of Bondoukuy, for true social cohesion, be artisans of peace and say no to the consumption of drugs and adulterated drinks'. According to Burkina Information Agency, the D©dougou National Blood Transfusion Center conducted a blood donation operation to support the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and vulnerable populations. In the same spirit, symbolic support for the presidential initiative "Faso Mªbo" was given to the President of the special delegation (PDS) of Bondoukuy, Lazare Bado. This gesture, consisting of an envelope of 251,850 FCFA, two shovels, two pickaxes and 24 pairs of gloves, reflects the support of those involved in citizen monitoring for national solidarity efforts.
A presentation on the theme of the day, led by David Dao, helped raise awareness of the importance of peace, cohesion and civic responsibility. The municipal coordinator of citizen monitoring, G©d©on Tamboe, paid tribute to the traditional leaders for their decisive role in preserving community life. He recalled that the choice of the village of Ouakara was not insignificant, the latter having suffered a terrorist attack on May 28, 2023, repelled thanks to the bravery of the inhabitants.
Welcoming the commitment of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, who ordered a large-scale security operation that led to the liberation of the commune, Tamboe urged the population to remain vigilant in the face of persistent threats. The municipal coordinator of citizen monitoring also announced that in the coming days, an awareness tour in the villages will be initiated in order to popularize the vision of the progressive and popular Revolution.
The patron of the ceremony, Paulin Bicaba, a bank executive and son of Ouakara, emphasized the essential role of citizen monitoring in detecting threats and protecting social cohesion. Recalling the legacy of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) initiated by President Thomas Sankara, he reaffirmed his commitment to supporting community initiatives that are part of the vision of Captain Ibrahim Traor©. For the sponsor, self-improvement and the spirit of sacrifice are essential conditions for collective survival.
The PDS of Bondoukuy, praised the constant commitment of the actors of the citizen watch and considered the theme of the commemoration relevant and challenging. He stressed that building a prosperous nation relies on quality human resources and assured his readiness to support any initiative aimed at strengthening national cohesion and community resilience.
Since its installation on August 15, 2024, the Bondoukuy municipal citizen watch has multiplied concrete actions. She organized a march-meeting in support of the President of Faso, contributed to the overhaul of 11 motorcycles of the military detachment for a sum of 350,000 FCFA, initiated sanitation days in public spaces and distributed more than 300 seedlings on National Tree Day. These are all initiatives that reflect the determination of the population to support the FDS and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) in securing the territory.
The ceremony was attended by several administrative and security authorities, as well as partner associations such as CRESCO and SARO. Focal points from different villages in the commune also took part, giving the event a unifying dimension. The celebration of the first anniversary of the citizen vigil in Ouakara thus stood out as a strong moment of unity and commitment, reaffirming the will of the people of Bondoukuy to defend patriotic values and promote peace and social cohesion.
