Citrus fruit exports worth TND 22 million by March 11, 2024

Tunis: The value of citrus fruit exports stood at TND 22 million during the period from October 10, 2023 to March 11, 2024, up slightly by 2.8% compared with the same period last year, according to the National Observatory of Agriculture (Onagri) in its monthly note released on Tuesday. However, exports fell by 10% in terms of quantity, from 6,377 tonnes in 2023 to 5,738 tonnes in 2024 over the same period. Maltese oranges remain the most popular citrus fruit on international markets, according to Onagri, with almost 5,448 tonnes exported during this period, accounting for 95% of citrus fruit exports. Next comes the clementine variety (2%) of exports, followed by other varieties such as navel, organic Maltese and sweet orange. France is still the main destination for Tunisian citrus fruit, with 5,547 tonnes exported (97%), followed by Libya (64 tonnes) and Qatar (59 tonnes). Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
