Dignus and Christian Aid Empower Returnees in Kongoussi Villages

Bam: The project to support the resettlement and strengthening of the resilience of returnee populations, executed by the Dignus association with financial backing from the NGO Christian Aid, has provided critical agro-pastoral and social cohesion activities to approximately a hundred households in the villages of Tanguièma and Darigma within the Kongoussi commune.According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative, which concluded on July 14, 2025, in Kongoussi, began in November 2024 and was funded with 35 million FCFA. The project has had a direct impact on more than 1,500 individuals. It has improved access to agricultural resources, such as seeds and inputs, and provided goats and training in agricultural techniques and soap making for women. Additionally, support was extended to around ten individuals living with disabilities for the construction of new homes.Saïdou Consimbo, chairman of the board of directors of Dignus, noted the project's achievements: "In both villages, we were able to train 40 women in livestock farming techniques and provide them with goats, train 40 others in market gardening production techniques and provide them with inputs, provide support with improved seeds to 80 women, train and equip 10 women in soap making, and provide 10 households with shelter kits. We also implemented two village action plans to promote social cohesion, accompanied by radio broadcasts. Listening to the testimonies of the beneficiaries, I can say that the results are very satisfactory."Beneficiary Balguissa Kinda from Darigma expressed her gratitude, emphasizing the project's direct benefits: "We received goats, inputs, and learned farming techniques. This will allow us to produce and meet our needs. We thank Dignus and its partner very much," she stated.The municipal authorities of Kongoussi have also voiced their approval. Sayouba Ouédraogo, the town's secretary general, commended the initiative and advocated for the project's expansion to all returnee villages in the municipality, urging partn ers to sustain their efforts to empower the population to be self-sufficient.Pastor Tegwendé Léonard Kinda, chairman of the Technical Support Committee (PCTA) of the Dignus association, highlighted that through this project, Dignus and Christian Aid, both members of the ACT Alliance, are demonstrating their commitment to sustainable recovery by integrating food security, economic empowerment, and social cohesion.
