Drinking water now in households in Béguédo and Bindé

_: A delegation from the Ministry of the Environment, Water and Sanitation visited drinking water supply infrastructure projects in the commune of Béguédo (Centre-East) and Sinikiéré (Centre-South), on Friday March 22, 2024. This outing is part of the commemoration of World Water Day. The difficulty of supplying drinking water in the commune of Béguédo (Centre-East) is no longer relevant. As proof, the government, through the National Drinking Water Supply Program, has created hydraulic infrastructure with a view to definitively alleviating the suffering of households. In fact, the town now has a water tower with a capacity of 300 m3 , five boreholes with a cumulative flow rate of 35m3 / hour and private connections in several households. On the occasion of the commemoration of World Water Day celebrated on Friday March 22, 2024, a delegation from the Ministry of Environment, Water and Sanitation, led by the first person in charge, Roger Baro, visited the sites of the infrastructure built to see the effecti veness of the operation. After visiting the various works including the Béguédo water tower, the minister himself opened the valve, a gesture symbolizing the filling of the center of the National Water and Sanitation Office (ONEA) of the municipality. In addition to this step, the minister and his colleagues went to the 'Kinflè' district. In the Bara family, tap water flows freely. Joy could be seen on the faces of the beneficiaries. The resolution of the water problem in the commune, according to the head of the family, Noufou Bara, is a salutary action on the part of the Transition authorities. 'As the theme of World Water Day indicates: 'Water for Peace', bringing water to families relieves us. Women will no longer jostle at water points. Having water at home is a joy reflecting the tranquility and peace of the consumer's heart,' he rejoiced. For the Director General (DG) of ONEA, Flandion Idrissa Sourabié, the implementation of this project strengthens the drinking water supply of Béguédo. It will als o help supply more than 6,500 residents. A distribution network of 6 kilometers (km) and conveyance of 43 km was created. Still with the intention of relieving the populations, five new standpipes were built and eight rehabilitated. Regarding private connections, 200 households benefited. Avoid waste Mr. Sourabié also recommended that beneficiaries use them for good purposes. 'Water resources are becoming increasingly scarce. I invite them to rational management. They must avoid wasting water. 'It's a pretty valuable resource,' he argued. In Sinikiéré, a village located in the commune of Bindé (Central-South region), the minister in charge of water went to the Simplified Drinking Water Supply (AEPS) site to inaugurate it. This is a work carried out with the aim of maintaining and improving water supply in this locality. With a total cost of more than 103 million FCFA, completed in 2022, the work is made up of a 10m3 / hour borehole which supplies a 40m3 / hour castle. This 'inexhaustible wealth', accordi ng to the traditional chief, Naaba Kaongo of Sinikiéré, is welcome. The suffering of residents is reduced. However, he called for an increase in the number of standpipes in view of population growth. After visiting the families benefiting from private connections, Minister Roger Baro said he was satisfied with the rate of completion of the work. For him, the head of state, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, has made the battle for water a fight. Thus, on the occasion of World Water Day, the department in charge of water, he indicated, visited the two regions to note the progress of this indicator. 'In Béguédo, the rate of access to water is almost 100% a reality. In Sinikiéré, this rate is displayed at 87.78%. This can improve according to our regional managers. We welcome the achievements made on the one hand on the State budget, without forgetting the support of partners,' he said. On the sidelines of this activity, the delegation visited the World Tree Day site in Dapelgo, in the commune of Bindé and the ecovillag e of Basgana, in Manga. Source: Burkina Information Agency
