Finance Bill 2024 sets State budget at TND 77,868 million

The draft State budget for 2024 set the volume of the budget at TND 77,868 million, i.e. up 9.3% (+TND 6,629 million) compared to the updated results for 2023.

Estimates in the draft 2024 State budget are based on the results expected for 2023 in light of budget implementation by late August 2023 and the development of various economic indicators in line with the 2024 development plan.

State budget estimates are based on a set of assumptions about balance and even economic growth of around 2.1%, and the adoption of the dollar average exchange rates over the last months of 2023 for the whole of 2024 and the average price of a barrel of Brent crude oil.( at around US$ 81/a barrel), along with the development of imports of goods, reads a document published by the Assembly of People's Representatives (French: ARP).

Own resources for the 2024 State budget are estimated at TND 49,160 million, up 8.4% (+TND 3,800 million) compared to 2023.

Own resources for 2024 account for 63.1% of the State's resources. They are shared out as follows: TND 4,405 million (i.e. 89.6%) in tax revenues, TND 4,760 million (9.7%) in non-tax revenues and grants amounting to TND 350 million (0.7%).

Estimates depend on improving the State's ability to mobilise resources to reduce pressures on public finances, while continuing to support tax compliance, tackle tax evasion and integrate the informal economy in a bid to support budgetary resources and broaden the tax base.
