Ganzourgou/Local Development Mining Fund: Women and young people from Boudry validate their action plans

Ouagadougou: The Association of Women in the Mining Sector of Burkina (AFEMIB) organized a workshop to validate the action plans of women and youth groups in the commune of Boudry on January 10, 2024. The event took place in the meeting room of the Boudry prefecture under the presidency of the prefect, president of the special municipal delegation of Boudry, D. Mohamed Ouédraogo.This workshop comes after a first four-day workshop which was devoted to the development of action plans for groups of women and young people with the Participatory Action Research (RAP) tool, in connection with the Mining Fund of local development (FMDL). It brought together young people, women and resource people from the municipality including administrative, customary and religious authorities.This initiative is part of the broader framework of the Project to Support the Strengthening of Land and Mines Management (PARGFM). AFEMIB, working closely with PARGFM, undertook to guide women and young people from five mining communes, including Boudry, in the development of action plans, anticipating local needs with a view to socio-economic development. sustainable thanks to the Mining Local Development Fund (FMDL).In his opening remarks, the president of the special municipal delegation (PDS) of Boudry, D. Mohamed Ouédraogo underlined the importance of AFEMIB's commitment in taking into account the concerns of women and young people to local development. 'It is essential support for strengthening local capacities and sustainable development,' he said.The objective of the workshop, according to Issa Nombré, consultant in an approach based on human rights and gender, is to support young people and women in the development of their action plans. He expressed the wish that the validated action plans be effectively implemented on the ground, emphasizing the importance of focusing concerns on structuring investments to ensure the sustainable development of the municipality, even beyond the FMDL. .The president of AFEMIB, Ms. Lucie Kabré/Kaboré, expressed her gratitude to the authorities, religious leaders, young people and women of Boudry, as well as representatives of the SOMISA mine operating in the commune, for their participation. She praised the sacrifices made by everyone for the well-being of women and young people in the town.Céline Yaméogo, president of the women's coordination of Silmiougou, thanked AFEMIB for its investment in favor of the women and young people of Boudry. As for Wendpouiré Fidel Kaboré, as a young p erson, he welcomed the AFEMIB initiative, stressing the importance of taking into account the concerns of young people and women in sectors of activity such as commerce, market gardening, agriculture, livestock and tourism.Ma n dina Nana, member of AFEMIB, welcomed the commitment of women and young people to come together in cooperatives to work. She insisted on the importance of finalizing the action plans, which will be handed over to the special delegation for integration into the renewal of the Municipal Development Plan (PCD). She called on the special delegation to really take into account the concerns of women and young people in this new PCD.
