Ganzourgou: Residents of the village of Waguessé Support Internally Displaced People in Zorgho

Zorgho: In a laudable gesture of solidarity, residents of the village of Waguessé made their contribution to support internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the commune of Zorgho, on February 13, 2024. Responding to the call from the village chief of Waguessé, the people organized a collection and were able to collect 400 kg of sorghum, 200 kg of corn and a sum of 21,500 FCFA. Having opened their doors to IDPs in their village, residents offered 100 kg of sorghum and 100 kg of maize in direct support. The rest of the provisions, i.e. 300 kg of sorghum and 100 kg of corn as well as the monetary contribution, were given to the President of the special delegation (PDS) of Zorgho, Valentin Badolo, to help the IDPs of the commune. Donor spokesperson Sada Kaboré described the gesture as a tangible expression of solidarity with IDPs. The official delivery of food took place within the town hall, in the presence of the PDS, accompanied by the first vice-president of the special delegation, the president of the regio nal planning and land management commission and the head of the social service. municipal. The PDS warmly congratulated the residents of Waguessé for their initiative and stressed the importance of each action, whatever its size, in this time of need. He called on others to follow their example. For the head of the municipal social service, Issouf Sawadogo, every day brings its share of requests for assistance from IDPs. For him, the management of these cases is made difficult mainly due to the lack of food and essential goods. He expressed his gratitude to the generous donors and stressed that the provisions would be immediately used to relieve the most needy IDPs.
