Good governance and CSR are vital for long-term survival of companies (Moez Joudi)

President of the Tunisian Institute of Administrators (ITA), Moez Joudi, said on Wednesday in Tunis that the implementation of governance standards and the principles of social and environmental responsibility (SER) remain vital to ensure the sustainability of companies in Tunisia and guarantee their access to external financing. Speaking at the ITA's annual symposium on the theme of "Company directors and environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria", Joudi stressed the importance of the role of directors in establishing good governance based on the principles of transparency, in order to improve the performance of companies and ensure that they are in line with internal and external challenges. In his view, failure by companies to comply with these standards could constitute an obstacle to the export of their products abroad. In this respect, he called for the introduction of legislation on corporate governance and the environmental and societal imperatives of business, and for training sessions in this area to be stepped up. The aim is to strengthen the international competitiveness of these companies and ensure their sustainability. For his part, Mohammed Salah Souilem, former Director General of Monetary Policy at the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT), pointed out that environmental protection and good governance have become necessary conditions for lenders to grant credit to companies wishing to carry out projects.
