Goulmou Regional Director Encourages Humanitarian Workers in Gobnangou

Gourma: The Regional Director of Humanitarian Action and National Solidarity of Goulmou, Lassane Ouedraogo, carried out a field trip to the Gobnangou province from September 8 to September 15, 2025, to learn about local realities and galvanize humanitarian actors operating in a context marked by significant security and social challenges.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the visit aimed to strengthen the efforts of humanitarian actors working in the region.

During his stay, Mr. Ouedraogo, along with the provincial director of humanitarian action of Gobnangou, Lassane Sawadogo, and regional agent Emile Guida, paid courtesy visits to the administrative, communal, security, and health authorities in Diapaga. He expressed gratitude for their support to the provincial leadership and acknowledged the role of local authorities in welcoming internally displaced persons (IDPs) and consolidating social cohesion. The local notables reaffirmed their commitment to continue their support.

The mission also engaged with organizations of older people, people living with disabilities, and women to discuss living conditions and empowerment opportunities. It involved dialogues with religious leaders, civil society leaders, and management committees of IDP hosting areas, emphasizing the need for collective commitment to address humanitarian challenges.

In discussions with humanitarian actors in Tapoa, Mr. Ouedraogo highlighted the importance of synergy and the effective meeting of affected populations' needs. Prospects for future actions were identified. He also praised the provincial management staff for their commitment and adaptability to the humanitarian situation.

Additionally, Mr. Ouedraogo participated in the handover of a borehole donated by the NGO "La Brique" to the provincial management and monitored the JEHANTODIMA project by the Tin Tua Association and partners. This field trip, his first since assuming office on August 4, provided an opportunity to assess efforts on the ground and encourage stakeholders to continue their beneficial actions for the people of Gobnangou.
