Gourma/Burkinabe Heritage Month Kicks Off with Call for Stakeholder Engagement

Fada N'Gourma: The Secretary General of the Eastern Region, Siaka Ouattara, has called on stakeholders to get involved to ensure the success of the 3rd edition of Burkinabe Heritage Month. This announcement was made during the official launch of the event, which took place on Friday, April 18, 2025, in Fada N'Gourma.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the launch was marked by a solemn raising of the national colors and the intonation of the national anthem in Gumanth©ma. The event brought together various influential figures from the Eastern region to celebrate and reflect on the cultural heritage of the Burkinabe people. Siaka Ouattara emphasized the importance of magnifying the deep foundations of the collective being of the Burkinabe people through this celebration.

Ouattara highlighted that the Burkinabe people are paying tribute to their values, knowledge, expressions, and places of memory, while affirming their endogenous roots in the modern world. He noted that this 3rd edition of Heritage Month will focus on the theme "Cultural Heritage and Economic Development." This theme aims to explore how cultural heritage can become an economic driver and a source of innovation for local artists, artisans, and businesses.

Ouattara described the month of Burkinabe heritage as a declaration of love for their culture and a commitment to preserve the rich legacy left by their predecessors. The regional director in charge of Culture in the East, Yacouba Bagayiri, outlined the activities planned for the month, which include tourist outings in Fada N'Gourma, a cultural evening, and a training workshop on living human treasures and knowledge holders.
