Gutters Near RN14 Cleared Through Community Efforts in Bomborokuy

Koosin: The citizen watch of the commune of Bomborokuy mobilized community leaders and the population this Saturday, September 6, 2025, to clean the gutters and ditches along the national road 14 up to the exit of the village. From the early hours of the morning, young people, women, and elders gathered with hoes, shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, and carts to clear the gutters blocked by plastic waste and garbage dumps.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the president of the citizen watch, Boba Traore, stated that the objective is to reduce the risks of flooding by facilitating the flow of rainwater and avoiding diseases during this winter period. Kevin Traore, a trader, expressed concern about the town's problems and praised the exemplary mobilisation.

The president of the citizen watch and the community leaders commended the determination of the population and hoped to make this activity a regular occurrence to enhance Bomborokuy as a pleasant living environment. The representative of the community leaders highlighted the significant changes in the village's appearance.

Despite their success, the initiative faced challenges, particularly the lack of sufficient materials, as noted by the president of the citizen watch. "This activity is part of the endogenous initiative led by the population and for the population, we did it for ourselves," he emphasized.

The day not only focused on cleaning but also on strengthening social cohesion in the town. Community leaders wish to institutionalize regular sanitation days. The Secretary General of the Citizen Watch, Zibiri Traore, paid tribute to the resilient population of Bomborokuy, noting that their commitment supports the dynamism initiated by the transitional authorities.
