Houet/SNC 2024: An exhibition to promote masks

Bobo-Dioulasso: The twin brothers Alassane and Ousseni Ouattara organized, on Monday April 29, 2024 in Bobo-Dioulasso, an exhibition of masks. There are around sixty copies of the masks that visitors were able to see at the pink villa. The masks exhibited at the pink villa in Bobo-Dioulasso come from several regions of Burkina Faso. There are masks from several provinces of Burkina Faso such as Sourou, Mouhoun or Houet. These are copies that the twin brothers Alassane and Ousseni Ouattara, the organizers of the exhibition, showed to visitors. They explained to them the meaning and the role that each mask plays in its original society. According to their explanation, there are masks of protection, fertility or even crazy masks. This exhibition is held around the theme 'masks, reflection and realities'. According to the initiators, the opening aims to preserve and promote the masks and statutes. 'The masks present the past and the present. It is therefore necessary to protect and preserve them,' suggested Ousseni Ouattara. This exhibition is organized at each edition of National Culture Week (SNC). The general director of National Culture Week (SNC) welcomed the initiative of the Ouattara brothers, an initiative which enriches the cultural heritage of the country of upright men. She then invited the public to visit this presentation of our masks. Source: Burkina Information Agency
