Houet/SNC 2024 Conference: The reflections end on a note of satisfaction

Bobo-Dioulasso: The conference of the 21st edition of the National Culture Week ended on the evening of Wednesday May 1, 2024. For three days, teacher-researchers and festival-goers reflected on the theme 'culture, historical memory and patriotic surge for a new Burkina.' The scientific committee of the conference for the 2024 edition of the National Culture Week succeeded in organizing the brainstorming meeting. Started on April 29, the conference closed its doors this Wednesday, May 1, 2024. Communications were divided into three axes. According to the general rapporteur Souleymane Ganou, it results from the 1st axis that culture as historical memory acts as a vehicle to recall the lived experiences, the struggles and the triumphs which have shaped a community. Axis 2 communications, he continued, made it possible to highlight the importance of history and archeology in the progress of peoples. 'In the current context of Burkina Faso, the interventions focused on the need to reconnect with the past to find resources that allow us to bounce back,' explained Souleymane Ganou. As for the communications of the last axis, they focused on the valorization of culture as a cement of the feeling of belonging and national pride in the sense that they encourage respect in diversity, solidarity and unity within from the community. The president of the scientific committee, Salaka Sanou, was delighted with the success of the meeting. 'The conference was a success in terms of the mapping of communicators: 2 professionals, 11 doctoral students, 3 doctors, 4 B-rank teachers, 13 A-rank teacher-researchers,' he said. Mr. Sanou announced the holding of another conference to commemorate the 40 decades of existence of the SNC on the theme: 'the SNC, 40 years later, issues, results and perspectives'. The secretary general of the SNC, Moïse Kohoun, welcomed the contribution of those involved in the conference. 'We learned a lot about the fundamentals of our culture. Cultural interventions and the need to use our cultural v alues to raise awareness and inspire a patriotic surge for a new Burkina, a guarantee of acceptance of others, respect, tolerance, peace and sustainable development,' - he assured. M kohoun made a special mention to the living human treasures and to the former directors and general secretaries of the SNC.
