The Provincial Directorate of Preschool, Primary and Non-Formal Education (DPEPPNF) of Ioba organized the 4th edition of the Festival of Performing Arts of Schools (FASIE) from May 23 to 24, 2023 in Dano, in order to to magnify Burkinabè culture.
This 4th edition of the School Performing Arts Festival (FASIE) took place under the theme “Culture challenges for a quality school in an emergency situation”.
The choice of this theme, according to the provincial director of preschool, primary and non-formal education (DPEPPNF) of Ioba, Adama Néya, stems from the security context marked by violence of all kinds in Burkina Faso.
For Mr. Néya, culture appears as one of the responses to restore a quality school in the country, faced with the consequences of the security crisis which negatively impact the efforts of the actors of the education system.
According to him, the festival aims to promote culture by building a strong cultural identity for young people, to safeguard cultural heritage and customs, to develop talents among students and to create a healthy emulation for excellence.
The DPEPPNF of Ioba stressed that FASIE constitutes an important lever to perpetuate the traditional cultural identity.
“Through school, we can instil in the child the bases of resilience for peace through culture,” he argued.
This edition mobilized more than 200 festival-goers from 24 schools in eight basic education districts (CEB) in the province. They competed in disciplines such as ballet, popular choir, recital, traditional instrumental music, traditional dance, storytelling, theater and archery.
The first three in each discipline received prizes and bonuses were awarded to the other participants.
In terms of awards and prizes, we retain, among others, the school of Orpoune "A" 1st in popular choir which receives an envelope of 50,000 CFA francs, the school of kolkol, 1st in theater receives the sum 50,000 FCFA.
In ballet, the Germain Nadal school is 1st pockets the 40,000 FCFA and that of Koper, 1st in traditional dance the school wins the sum 50,000 FCFA.
The Dissin “C” school, 1st in recital obtains the sum of 25,000 francs and the 1st prize in archery goes to the student, Moïse Kambouolé from Orpoune B who receives 10,000 FCFA.
The president of the organizing committee, Sié Palé said he was satisfied with regard to the mobilization and the high level of competition between the troops.
The president of the jury, Mouon-Bome Hervé Somda made some observations to the supervisors and artists/students for the perfection of the performances.
According to the DPEPPNF Adama Néya, the objectives set have been achieved with regard to the enthusiasm of students, teachers and parents of students and the quality of services.
The Secretary General (SG) of the province of Ioba, André Lankoandé invited festival-goers to be resilient by using culture to meet the challenges of a quality school in an emergency situation.
For him, FASIE provides a better future for culture within societies.
Mr. Lankoandé reiterated his thanks to the sponsor of this edition, Caromé Somé and to the American citizen Marc Bockley, partner of FASIE since 2019.
The SG of the province of Ioba also congratulated the organizers for the smooth running of the event for the benefit of the children.
