King Mohammed VI Observes Eid Al-Adha Prayer at Tetouan’s Hassan II Mosque

Morocco: His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, performed the Eid Al-Adha prayer at the Hassan II Mosque in Tetouan, marking the commencement of the celebrations. His Majesty was accompanied by members of the Royal Family, including HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, HH Prince Moulay Ahmed, and HH Prince Moulay Ismal.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the celebration of the Tabaski festival, or Eid Al-Adha, took place concurrently with several African countries, including Burkina Faso. Crowds gathered to witness the Royal Procession and to extend their well-wishes to the King on this auspicious occasion.

Upon arriving at the mosque, King Mohammed VI was greeted by a detachment of the Royal Guard. The Eid prayer was followed by a sermon from the Imam, who emphasized the spiritual significance of Eid Al-Adha. The Imam reiterated the King's earlier call for Moroccans to forgo the traditional sheep sacrifice this year due to economic and environmental challenges affecting livestock availability.

The Imam recalled that King Mohammed VI had previously addressed the nation through his Minister of Islamic Affairs, outlining the reasons for the suspension of the sacrifice rite, a decision reminiscent of one made in 1996 by the late King Hassan II.

After the prayer, King Mohammed VI received congratulations from diplomatic figures, including the Ambassador of Burkina Faso. The King then carried out the ritual of sacrifice, with cannon shots echoing in celebration.

On this festive day, King Mohammed VI, alongside the Royal Family, received greetings from key figures, including the Head of Government and presidents of various constitutional bodies, reflecting the deep-rooted traditions and unity within the Kingdom.
