Mahdia-THAMM Programme: First regional conference on regular migration channels

The governorate of Mahdia hosted, on Thursday, the first regional conference on the programme "Towards a Global Approach to the Governance of Labour Migration and Mobility in North Africa" (THAMM), funded by the European Union.

Ghada Hadhbaoui, head of communication of the programme, told the media on the sidelines of the conference that the objective of THAMM is to promote regular migration and raise awareness of its mechanisms.

"The number of regular migrants to France through legal channels (CDD, CDI, etc.), amounts to 9,000 migrants, including 2,500 under seasonal work contracts," she said.

For his part, Expert in education and guidance, Adel Gassoumi stressed that "these regional meetings aim to disseminate knowledge on the legal frameworks of regular migration and the means to benefit from them, with the objective of supporting the international effort to fight against illegal migration.
