March 8: Banwa women demand peace, a hospital and the return of IDPs and electricity

Solenzo: Banwa women on Friday commemorated the 167th International Women’s Day through a peaceful march and a football match and the delivery of a letter of grievances to be transmitted to President Ibrahim Traoré.

‘We have a pure heart and that is why we are dressed in white to implore peace from God and the ancestors and support our FDS and VDP and the transition because without peace there is no development,’ said launched Fatimata Bintou Wibga provincial coordinator of Banwa women in place of the Solenzo A school.

Many of them came out this morning all in white for this march and to give a note to the head of the province in order to transmit it to the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

Signs and two banners were in front of the marches and, to the sound of music speaking of social cohesion and peace, they walked the main road to the Ibrahim Traoré roundabout where they sang the national anthem.

‘We need a hospital for us and our patients, we have not had power for over a year, and we need a pave
d road and a return of IDPs to their villages. We will go and give the message to the High Commissioner for our president,’ adds Fatimata Bintou Wibga.

High Commissioner Oumarou Sandwidi accompanied by customary and religious leaders as well as directors and department heads welcomed the marches in front of the court of the Solenzo prefecture.

‘Promotion of community entrepreneurship, what contribution do women make? we are 52% of the population and we constitute the major players in this program, I therefore invite each man and woman to make this day a springboard to lead reflections for a massive subscription of women to community entrepreneurship”, launched the women’s coordinator in her speech to the authorities.

While welcoming the efforts and courage of the FDS and VDP Fatimata Bintou Wibga always asks for their support and involvement in order to mitigate the destructive consequences of terrorist attacks which weigh on women.

The coordinator gave High Commissioner Oumarou Sandwidi a note with 10 po
ints and read it in front of the many women for the head of state.

A football match in the evening pitted married women against young girls and the match ended with a score of 1 goal everywhere in a friendly atmosphere and bursts of laughter.

High Commissioner Oumarou Sandwidi thanked the women and promised to pass on their grievances.
