Media: ISCOM students question webTV and digital transformation

Ouagadougou, Students Hanifa Koussoubé and Serge Ika Ki, from the Higher Institute of Communication and Multimedia (ISCOM), obtained their licenses in digital journalism on Monday, thanks to the validation of their research on webtv and the digital transformation of media.

“Analysis of the editorial model of Burkinabè webtv: case of LeFaso TV and Boima TV” was the research theme of Hanifa Koussoubé, for obtaining the bachelor's degree in digital journalism at the Higher Institute of Communication and Multimedia (ISCOM).

His defense took place on Monday October 23, 2023 at ISCOM, located in Ouagadougou.

Hanifa Koussoubé explained to the jury chaired by Dr Cyriaque Paré, that she started from the observation that more and more Internet users are interested in the content of online videos. Hence the need for her to analyze the editorial model of LeFasoTv and Boima TV, in order to understand their strategies to attract and retain Internet users.

For the applicant, these two webTVs do remarkable work, but would benefit from producing more videos in quantity, quality and above all innovative.

The jury noted some imperfections in the document that Hanifa Koussoubé promised to correct in the final corpus. It was awarded a score of 16/20.

Before Miss Koussoubé, it was Serge Ika Ki who took on the difficult exercise of convincing the jury of the relevance of his work on: “The digital transformation of Burkinabè media: the case of RTB Télé and the daily Sidwaya”.

According to him, these two public media have enough material, financial and human resources to undertake the essential reform of the digital transition.

This seems to have been effective with the creation by these media of web editorials and mobile applications.

However, Serge Ika Ki believes that multimedia, which includes text, video, audio and hyperlinks, is not yet a reality in these organs.

Furthermore, according to Mr. Ki, these platforms are not well animated and are not profitable because they record very few charged reports and advertisements.

For Serge Ika Ki, RTB Télé and Sidwaya should promote their digital versions to the public and partners in the same way as their first versions.

He obtained a score of 15/20 with instructions to take into account the shortcomings noted by the jury in his final document.

The president of the jury, Dr. Cyriaque Paré, also the founder of ISCOM, praised the fairly detailed documents which will allow practitioners and professionals to be able to question themselves through the questions that are made and to improve their functioning. .

He urged media leaders to provide researchers with the information they need to support their scientific analyses.

As a reminder, ISCOM, which opened its doors in 2018, offers degree training in digital organizational communication, digital advertising creation and digital journalism.
