Merit of Primary Education Stakeholders Celebrated in Eastern Region.

Gourma/Education: The merit of primary education stakeholders recognized: The governor of the Eastern region, Ram Joseph Kafando, chaired a ceremony in Fada N'Gourma to honor the achievements of primary education stakeholders on Saturday, November 2, 2024. Despite challenges posed by terrorism, dedicated individuals have been working to uphold children's right to education.According to Burkina Information Agency, The event celebrated those who excelled during the 2023-2024 school year. The theme for the 2024 Eastern Regional School Excellence Day was "Resilience of education stakeholders in the East and management of internally displaced students." Regional Director of Education Yentéma David Thiombiano emphasized the theme's focus on students and teachers, especially those affected by insecurity. He highlighted the importance of supporting students who are internally displaced and ensuring teachers remain resilient.Thiombiano explained that the goal is to raise awareness and rally support for bettering c onditions for displaced students. Rewards for outstanding achievements included bicycles, motorcycles, scholarships, certificates of merit, and computers. Alima Lompo, an internally displaced student from Kondoigou primary school, received a bicycle and scholarship, which she said would aid her family's housing situation and her school commute.Michel Lankoandé from the Basic Education District of Piéla achieved a 100% success rate for his 79 students taking the Primary Education Certificate in 2024. For his efforts, he was awarded a motorcycle and a certificate of merit. He credited the success to the relentless motivation provided by supervisors and the school team. Governor Kafando praised all contributors, acknowledging their efforts that led to an 84.15% success rate in the CEP 2024.
