Ouagadougou: The Minister of State, Minister of Culture, Arts and Tourism, Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, inaugurated yesterday March 8, 2024 a Women’s Museum promoted by Princess Julie Kongo, in the village of Kolgondiesssé, commune of Ziniaré.

The erection of this museum, started in 2005 by the promoter Princess Julie Kongo, was able to succeed thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture through the financial and technical support of the Cultural and Tourist Development Fund (FDCT) and the National Museum of Burkina.

By inaugurating this museum space, Minister of State Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo praised the promoter’s contribution to the preservation of our cultural heritage. This setting therefore offers the opportunity to all those who want to discover the authentic life of the ‘Moagha’ woman and other communities through the objects on display. ‘Behind each object there are values to discover,’ said the head of the Culture Department, who hopes that the initiative will become a model in other regions.

One
of the particularities of this Museum according to Princess Julie Kongo, is ‘that it contains objects from the queen mother of the royal court of Moogho and promotes cultural and ancestral values’. She also verbally welcomed the strong decision of the Government at the last Council of Ministers, to henceforth establish the date of May 15 as ‘Customs and Traditions Day’

At this inauguration, which takes place on the day of the commemoration of International Women’s Rights Day, the Minister of State paid tribute to all the women of Burkina who stand out for their resilience and their dignity in these terms: ‘crisis resilience has a feminine face”. In his message, Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo invited the other half of heaven to continue to support the current fight for the reconquest of the sovereignty of Burkina.
