Ministerial working session takes several decisions ahead of summer return of Tunisians abroad

Tunis: A ministerial working session to prepare for the return of Tunisians abroad for the summer season, chaired by Prime Minister Ahmed Hachani at the Kasbah on Tuesday, took several decisions. These include speeding up the promulgation of the draft decree on the tax-free regime for expatriates (FCR) and processing applications through the creation of an electronic platform by the Ministry of the Interior in coordination with the services of the General Directorate of Customs. These decisions also provide for the allocation of 500 tickets at reduced prices to poor families of Tunisians abroad (200 tickets on CTN and 300 tickets on Tunisair). They also provide for the creation of an outdoor area for travellers at the port of La Goulette and the doubling of the number of check-in desks (from 18 to 36) for the return of Tunisians abroad, according to a press release issued by the Prime Ministry. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of improving organisational and logistical coordination between all st akeholders in order to ensure the care of Tunisians living abroad, while offering them favourable conditions and quality services. Following the discussions, the participants took a number of decisions: - Creation of a border procedures counter dedicated to people with special needs, the elderly and pregnant women. - Creation of a specific area within the General Directorate of Border and Aliens Police for obtaining travel documents for the Tunisian diaspora. - Opening passport offices at Tunis-Carthage airport and the ports of La Goulette and Zarzis. - Calling on services of Tunisian customs to reduce waiting times for travellers, while ensuring that aisles are allocated to travellers without baggage. - Opening of an exchange office in the port of La Goulette and strengthening of technical inspection services for technical equipment in ports and airports. - Calling on the Ministry of Transport to increase air conditioning in airports and to use Terminal 2 of Tunis Carthage airport during peak periods. - Providing logistical capacity to transport passengers to and from the centre of the capital (airport shuttle).
