The diocesan family of Dédougou vibrated on Saturday July 13, 2024 in Dédougou, to the rhythm of the priestly ordinations of four young priests, who received the sacred order of the presbyterate from the hands of Monsignor Prosper Bonaventure K, Bishop of Dédougou. The ceremony was attended by numerous priests, families of the day's elected officials, customary and religious authorities and many friends and acquaintances.The presbyterium of the diocese of Dédougou expanded on Saturday July 13, 2024 in Dédougou, with the presbyteral ordination of three diocesan priests, including Fathers Constantin Sawadogo of the Saint Pierre Pêcheur parish of Nyassan, of Noël Souly, of the Parish Sacred Heart of Toma, by Germain Guimbou, from the parish of Sainte Thérèse de Houndé.Father Théodore Ouédraogo, of the Sainte Anne Cathedral Parish of Dédougou, is from the Society of White Fathers Missionaries of Africa.These four young people received from the hands of Monsignor Prosper Bonaventure Ky, the sacred order of t he presbyterate through their desire to serve the church in submission to the hierarchy, the imposition and anointing of hands, priestly ornaments and the delivery of the paterna and the chalice.These gestures make them priests consecrated for the service of God and the Christian people.These young priests took as their common motto: 'Your love Lord be upon us as our hope is in you', taken from the book of Psalms 33 verse 22.During his homily, the father of the diocesan family of Dédougou, stressed that he is filled with joy at the end of each year to be able to celebrate ordinations in the diocese.For this, he paid great tribute to the parents of the young priests for the gift of their sons to the church through their priestly ordination.He saluted the young priests for their choice to live the vocation of Christ through their commitment to the priesthood.'After a journey of nine years of training after obtaining the Baccalaureate, you renounced the goods of today's world by willingly devoting yo urself to the mission of the Church through priestly ordination. I congratulate you and invite you to live your commitment by trusting in God who chose you a long time ago,' said the Bishop.Referring to the biblical texts of the day which speak of the love of God, the Bishop said that God calls man out of love for his mission.'Love as testimony is an indispensable weapon for those associated with the mission of Christ. In a world where violence and division are too often present, our mission will be to bear witness to the unconditional love of God through our words and our actions,' he stressed.He invited the laity to support priests in their missions.'Priests carry a heavy pastoral load that is sometimes difficult. Pray that they will be strong in their vocation so that they can be faithful witnesses to the Gospel,' said Monsignor Prosper Bonaventure Ky.The diocesan family of Dédougou, in a festive atmosphere, praised God to the sound of drums accompanied by songs of praise and thanksgiving in hono r of the birth of the four priests in the family.To exercise their function as servants of Christ, the young priests were sent on mission to the diocese of Dédougou for those diocesans.Father Constantin Sawadogo will be at the parish of Wakara, Father Noël Souli at the parish of Toma and Father Germain Guimbou at the parish of Tougan.Father Théodore Ouédraogo is sent on a mission to Tanzania to announce the Good News.On Sunday July 14, the day after the ordinations, Father Constantin Sawadogo celebrated his thanksgiving mass surrounded by his ordination promotors, priests and a community mobilized for the event.Source: Burkina Information Agency
