Yatenga: His Majesty Naaba Kiiba, King of Yatenga, alongside traditional dignitaries, commemorated the 2nd edition of the Day of Customs and Traditions (JCT) at the royal palace of Yatenga. The event was attended by a delegation of the region's constituted bodies, led by Governor Thomas Yampa.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony included performances by cultural troupes, reflections on Yatenga customs, and various speeches. Baloum Naaba, the minister and spokesperson for the King of Yatenga, conveyed the Yadce supreme chief's happiness at the institutionalization of the JCT. Acknowledging the country's security challenges, traditional leaders urged support for President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore.
The King instructed his ministers to focus on promoting social cohesion, community life, and educating young people on fundamental traditional values. He expressed a strong desire for the return of peace in the northern region and throughout Burkina Faso.
Governor Thomas Yampa commended the guardians of tradition and the community for their solidarity during the JCT. He extended wishes for health and longevity to Naaba Kiiba and his constituents. The event concluded with the awarding of certificates to individuals dedicated to promoting customs and traditions in the Northern Region. A future celebration is planned for 2026, with hopes for peace in Faso.
