Nahouri/Neglected tropical diseases: An association offers washing kits to lymphatic filariasis patients

Nahouri: The Vision Nouvelle Association, in partnership with Speak Up Africa, delivered kits on Wednesday February 7, 2024, for the benefit of patients affected by lymphatic filariasis in the Pô health district. The ceremony was chaired by the High Commissioner of Nahouri province, Auguste Kinda.

As part of World Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) Day, the Vision Nouvelle Association, in partnership with Speak Up Africa, presented washing kits on Wednesday February 7, 2024 in Pô for the benefit of lymphatic filariasis patients. .

The day, 2024 edition, is placed under the theme: ‘Unite-act-eliminate NTDs’.

According to the executive director of the Association, Irène Zoungrana, it has been two years since they engaged alongside the department in charge of Health, to make their contribution in the fight against NTDs, by empowering populations at the grassroots level. in the mobilization of resources for the management of cases of lymphedema.

ised the holding of this activity initiated as part of the advocacy action plan of the New Vision Association.

Mr. Kinda indicated that the day is an opportunity for every actor in society to commit on a daily basis to supporting victims of NTDs.

The regional director of Health and Public Hygiene of the Center-South region, Dr Anata Soré, stressed that the consequences of NTDs are irreversible and affect the majority of populations.

She made a commitment that the resources made available to them will be intended for patients.

The communities and special delegations of the communes of Pô and Tiébélé (pilot communes), made an endogenous financial contribution of more than one million CFA francs, to support patient victims of lymphatic filariasis in the Pô health district.

The High Commissioner indicated that this act will contribute to the care of patients suffering from lymphatic filariasis and to promote social cohesion within communities.

According to health services, there are around 200 patients suffering from lymphatic filariasis in the Nahouri province.
