Ouagadougou: The Independent Circle of Citizen Reflection and Action (CIRAC) organized a public conference on monetary sovereignty this Saturday March 9, 2024 at the Niamey press house.This meeting has the theme: 'Monetary sovereignty: challenges and issues of Niger's exit from the CFA zone' brought together several participants including civil society, the highest retired and active executives in the country.It was moderated by Woba Ali, doctor in monetary and budgetary economics and Abdo Hassan Maman, doctor in international trade, both from the Abdou Moumouni University of Niamey and the moderator, Ahmed Ousman Diallo, chartered accountant and auditor of the firm BDA Audit Partners.The presentations focused mainly on explanations and illustrations concerning the advantages and difficulties of Niger's exit from the CFA Zone, on the history of the CFA francs; THEcentral bank attributes; the difference between the single and common currency, and trade.After the various exchanges and discussions, the president of CIRAC Idi Ango Omar stressed that 'this conference was organized at the request of the public present during the last one where we therefore gave the opportunity to these experts to determine the wording of the conference. As experts, the president stressed, 'they cannot saythis is the direction that the country must take but they enlighten us on how it works, the advantages, the disadvantages in case we decide to leave. 'We wanted these different conferences to be broadcast everywhere so that every Nigerien knows what is happening in the country especially at these times,' concluded Idi Ango Omar.Source: Burkina Information Agency
