Number of tourists on the up in Monastir

The tourist zone of Monastir recorded 521 thousand 830 visitors during the period going from January 1st, 2023 to December 20, 2023, i.e. up by 19.6% in comparison with the same period in 2022.During the same period, the number of overnight stays had reached two million 572 thousand, up 41.1%, Regional Tourism Director Fawaz Ben Halima told TAP.The local market tops the list in terms of visitor numbers, followed by the French, Algerian, British and German markets, he added.He anticipated a "very auspicious year for tourism" in 2024, forecasting figures at the same level as those for 2019, the benchmark year.Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
