Ouagadougou/Yagma: The Yagma gendarmerie brigade presented to the press on Tuesday a network of 13 alleged offenders accused of robbery, armed robbery, receiving stolen goods and dismantling stolen motorcycles. "Following complaints, the Yagma gendarmerie brigade opened an investigation, the investigations of which led to the arrest of 13 alleged robbers operating in the districts of Bassinko, Gambre-Yaaré, Marcoussis and Yagma," said the commander of the Yagma brigade, Chief Warrant Officer Laurent Bénao.According to Burkina Information Agency, these offenders, aged between 18 and 26, operated in groups of two or three individuals to rob their victims. Shops, unlit streets and the surroundings of hostels were suitable places for the operations of this network, explained the commander.According to Warrant Officer Laurent Bénao, these young Burkinabe, using firearms stolen from their parents, robbed their victims of their motorcycles, mobile phones, money and other valuables. "The stolen motorcycles were e ither sold as is or dismantled before being resold," said Laurent Bénao, detailing the network's modus operandi.The searches resulted in the seizure of five automatic pistols, including two fakes, knives, four stolen mopeds, motorcycle parts and a laptop, he added. The chief warrant officer also specified that four of these criminals are still on the run.According to the commander of the Ouagadougou gendarmerie group, squadron leader Issa Paré, the alleged offenders are made up of students and apprentice drivers. In this regard, he invited parents to play their role in supervising their children. He also urged the youth to abandon dishonourable acts and better prepare for their future by focusing on their studies.Squadron Leader Issa Paré finally called on the population to continue their denunciations to contribute to the fight against delinquency in Burkina Faso.
