Ouagadougou: The trial of eight defendants accused of having been at the origin of the unrest which shook the town of Ouahigouya (North) on January 29, 2024, was postponed to February 21, 2024, noted the AIB. The Ouahigouya High Court opened on Wednesday February 14, 2024 at 8 a.m., the trial of 8 demonstrators arrested following a violent march. After the call to the bar, the Deputy Prosecutor made a request to request the postponement of the hearing due to the absence of the Judicial Agent of the State and at the request of the counsel of a defendant. It was followed and the trial was postponed until February 21, 2024. As a reminder, a march meeting organized as part of a 'Call for general mobilization' took place in the city of Ouahigouya on Monday January 29, 2024 under the leadership of individuals and civil society organizations from Ouahigouya, aimed to demand more security in Yatenga, in the face of terrorist abuses. But the march degenerated, causing breakages, notably at the regional branch of public television and at the gates of the palace of Her Majesty Naaba Kiiba.
