Patriotic Commitment: A Septuagenarian Cycles 110 km to Support “Faso Mªbo”

Manga: Boureima Kagamb¨ga, aged 70, undertook a 110-kilometer bicycle ride between Manga (Zoundw©ogo) and Ouagadougou on Tuesday to buy and deliver two bags of cement to "Faso Mªbo," the presidential initiative aimed at accelerating the opening up of cities and the beautification of urban landscapes in Burkina Faso.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Boureima Kagamb¨ga, originally from the village of Kalamto¨ga in the commune of Manga, expressed his desire to contribute to the initiative since Captain Ibrahim Traor© came to power. "Since Captain Ibrahim Traor© came to power and launched the Faso Mªbo initiative, I have been looking for a way to contribute and express my joy. I was able to raise enough money to buy two bags of cement that I will take to Ouagadougou," he stated.

The septuagenarian, with a grizzled beard, dressed in Faso dan fani and carrying the flags of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger attached to his bicycle, spoke on Tuesday morning before setting off for the capital. During his journey, Mr. Kagamb¨ga planned stops in Guiba, To©c©, and Kombissiri to hand over Burkina Faso flags to the Presidents of the special delegations (PDS) of these communes.

This symbolic gesture is intended to encourage local authorities and inspire the youth of these localities to commit to the success of government initiatives. Mr. Kagamb¨ga's departure for Ouagadougou took place in front of the Manga town hall, where he handed over the Burkina Faso flag to the PDS of Manga, B©renger Bihoun, and received encouragement and congratulations in return.

For Mr. Bihoun, Boureima Kagamb¨ga's initiative represents "a strong gesture and a lesson in patriotic commitment for all." According to the PDS, the "Faso Mªbo" initiative should soon be extended to Manga, as it has to other major cities in Burkina Faso. He emphasized the need for widespread support and commitment to achieve the set objectives, calling on the people of Manga to mobilize and take strong action like that of Boureima Kagamb¨ga.

Before his departure, Mr. Kagamb¨ga also received encouragement and blessings from several compatriots and authorities, including the mission officer for the Nazinon region at the Presidency of Faso, Thierry Niki©ma. The Manga town hall also provided him with a raincoat to protect him in case of rain during his journey.
