Sebba: Muslims in the city of Sebba celebrated the Tabaski festival on Friday, June 6, in large mosques in a simple manner, AIB noted. Like other towns and villages in Burkina Faso, Muslims in Sebba gathered in large numbers to observe the important religious event. In a departure from previous years, where prayers were held in public squares, this year's prayers took place within mosques due to security concerns.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Sunni mosque, led by El Hadj Amadou Boureima, commenced prayers at 9:00 a.m. Following the prayers, the imam delivered a sermon emphasizing the mission of Islam. He highlighted that Islam is a religion that promotes peace, tolerance, sharing, mutual respect, and aid. He urged Muslims to avoid causing harm to their neighbors and to embrace social cohesion and good companionship in their daily lives.
The imam further elaborated on the importance of social cohesion, mentioning that imams across Burkina Faso have gained valuable insights into fostering unity. He cited the Federation of Islamic Associations of Burkina Faso (FAIB) as an exemplary model of cohesion and collaboration with other religions in the country. He emphasized the need to cultivate peace and encourage positive actions.
In concluding his sermon, the imam offered prayers for Burkina Faso and its President, Captain Ibrahim Traor©. He prayed for divine protection for the nation and for guidance for those who are yet to embrace understanding, hoping for the country's return to the path of development. He also sought blessings for President Traor© and his government, asking for guidance and protection in their leadership.
