Seno/Health Campaign Benefits Thousands of Adolescents in Dori

Dori: The Sahel Regional Health Directorate recently held a review meeting in Dori to evaluate a deworming and iron supplementation campaign that occurred from May 26 to 28, 2025. This campaign successfully reached 2,897 adolescent students.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative was a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Basic Education and the Ministry of Health, supported by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). This program, active since 2021, aims to enhance the nutritional status of adolescent girls by preventing anemia through deworming and iron supplementation, targeting female students aged 10 to 19.

During the 2024-2025 school year, the program aimed to reach 7,561 adolescent students in the Dori district. By the end of the campaign, 2,897 students received folic acid supplements.

Participants at the review meeting emphasized the importance of improving communication with educational stakeholders, partners, and religious and traditional leaders to ensure future campaigns run smoothly. The Sahel Regional Health Director, Djibrila Alou Maiga, expressed gratitude to all contributors for their efforts in the successful implementation of the campaign.
