Boulgou: The city of Tenkodogo hosted the official launch ceremony of the paving and beautification component of the presidential initiative "Faso Mªbo", in the presence of administrative, customary and military authorities, civil society leaders, and many residents who came to reaffirm their civic commitment.
According to Burkina Information Agency, under the leadership of President Captain Ibrahim Traor©, the "Faso Mªbo" initiative aims to redesign the country's cities through sanitation work, development of public spaces, and participatory paving. After Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso, Tenkodogo, the capital of the Nakamb© region, is now benefiting from this program. The approach involves voluntary citizen mobilization, soliciting in-kind donations such as cement, sand, and granite, as well as logistical support and labor.
The initiators highlighted that the project includes actions of community interest, such as treating illegal dumps, developing green spaces, and reorganizing high-traffic sites. The governor of the Nakamb© region, Colonel Aboudou Karim Lamizana, praised the initiative, noting its effects on the ground. He encouraged the region's residents and diaspora to follow the initial donors' example. "We can create here the spaces we admire elsewhere abroad," he stated.
Sami B©renger Poda, President of the Tenkodogo special delegation, explained that areas targeted for initial works were chosen based on strategic criteria, including proximity to major roads, high economic activity areas, and public places. He announced that over 150 tons of materials have been mobilized, showing the population's support. Sanitation operations will accompany the paving.
Lieutenant Abdoul Fataf Sawadogo, commander of the "Faso Mªbo" brigade in Tenkodogo, described the initiative as a "citizen revolution", noting its potential for sustainable social and economic transformation. Major donations have already been made to support the work's start. Emmanuel K©r©, founder of the Saint Emmanuel de Cella high school, donated 20 tons of cement. Economic operator Louis Sorgho provided a 10-ton vehicle for transporting aggregates, and the association of national language facilitators donated 5 bags of cement.
Speakers applauded the Head of State's vision to build a new, resilient, clean, and proud Burkina through citizens' contributions. Work has begun, prioritizing strategically identified areas. "Faso Mªbo" establishes itself as a model of community engagement, a symbol of hope, and a national reference for urban transformation led by the people.
