Terrorism: In Geneva, Burkina Faso once again denounces the lack of assistance from the international community

At the rostrum of the ILO, Burkina Faso denounced again on Wednesday the lack of assistance from the international community in its relentless fight against armed terrorist groups which have been attacking it for eight years.

“Burkina Faso, in the name of the same Conventions of solidarity and assistance ratified in the world (including 44 Conventions at the level of the ILO), requires this solidarity to protect its populations; this call has almost remained without much echo and worse, the minimum that the Burkinabè government is struggling to obtain by the sweat of the brow of its own sons, is cynically blocked”, indicated on Wednesday the Burkinabe Minister in charge of Labor Bassolma Bazié.

Mr. Bazié was speaking in Geneva, during the 111th session of the International Labor Conference, according to a speech transmitted to the AIB by its communication service.

He follows in the footsteps of Prime Minister Me Apollinaire Kyelem who affirmed on May 30, 2023, before the Burkinabè deputies, that traditional partners refused to supply Burkina with weapons and dissuaded others from doing so, while the country is doing against terrorists for eight years.

“And it is when there are massacres that the eardrums that were once clogged open up, tongues are loosened and unobtainable means are obtained to announce the arrival of doctors after death! “, pestered Bassolma Bazié from the top of the rostrum of the International Labor Organization (ILO).

Minister Bazié also displayed his irritation because the traditional partners consider the civilians (VDP) engaged alongside the Armed Forces as militias to which they refuse arms, in the name of the laws of their countries.

"In Burkina Faso, daughters and sons, faced with a situation of non-assistance to people in danger, are determined to get involved and are trained by the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) to take responsibility for themselves in a sacrificial way in order to to defend their homeland in peril.

It is these valiant Burkinabè called Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP) that some "traditional partners call militias" but, under the eyes of everyone, in a region close to there (Ukraine, editor's note), Kalashnikovs are supplied to electricians who turn into tank drivers to, they say, also defend their country: they, on the other hand, are qualified as fighters and patriots!”, continued Bassolma Bazié.

For the authority, Burkina Faso is not at the rostrum of the ILO to whine in the eyes of the world and show off its sufferings and wounds, but to show, among other things, the solidarity and resilience of its people, resolutely committed to s to assume until victory in the firm defense of the lands of their ancestors.
