The Living Human Treasure, Raogo Dénis Kaboré (135 years old) bowed out at Zorgho

The Living Human Treasure (THV), Raogo Dénis Kaboré, master in the art of traditional dyeing, bowed out on May 29, 2023 in Zorgho at the age of 135, said learned the AIB.

Born around 1888 in the Kandatenga district in sector N°4 of Zorgho, Ganzourgou province, Raogo Dénis Kaboré died on Monday May 29, 2023 in Zorgho at the age of 135, following illness.

A huge crowd accompanied Mr. Raogo Dénis Kaboré known as “Mission Naba” to his final resting place in the lair of the family courtyard on May 30, 2023, in his native district.

During his “long” life on earth, Mr. Raogo Dénis Kaboré distinguished himself in traditional plant-based dyeing to create colorful and durable textiles.

It was proclaimed a Living Human Treasure (VHT) in Traditional Crafts on December 22, 2015.

For having worked to preserve and promote Burkinabe culture, he was elevated to the rank of Knight of the Order of Merit, Arts and Communication, during the last National Culture Week (SNC) in Bobo -Dioulasso.

The disappearance of this man then sounds like the disappearance of a part of the history of the art of dyeing in Ganzourgou.
