Three French diplomats ordered to leave Burkinabe territory

Burkina Faso has until this Thursday ordered three French diplomats to leave its territory due to 'subversive activities', the AIB has learned. Gwenaïelle Habouzit and political advisors Guillaume Reisacher and Hervé Fournier, working at the French embassy in Burkina Faso, were declared as 'undesirable persons' (persona non grata). Ouagadougou, which accuses them of 'subversive activities', gave them until April 18, 2024 to leave the territory. Since the coming to power in September 2022 of Captain Ibrahim Traoré who advocates the sovereignty of his country, relations with the former colonial power are no longer excellent. Thus Burkina Faso demanded and obtained the departure of Ambassador Luc Hallade in January 2023 and that of the French army in February 2023. In March 2023 and September 2023 it was the turn of the military cooperators and the military attaché. We also recall that in December 2022, two French 'spies' who were interested in the activities of the Burkinabè FDS were chased out. Source: Burkina Information Agency
