Tunisia, AfDB focus on progress in talks on Youth Entrepreneurship Investment Bank project [Upd 1]

Progress in talks on the Youth Entrepreneurship Investment Bank project proposed by Tunisia took centre stage as Minister of Economy and Planning Feryel Ouerghi Sebai met Thursday with African Development Bank Director General for North Africa Mohamed El Azizi. The meeting, attended by Deputy Director General for North Africa Malinne Blomberg, focused on a series of cooperation projects underway, mainly the grain sector consolidation and development programme, the youth economic empowerment programme, the road infrastructure upgrade programme and the private sector support programme, the ministry said on Friday. Financial and technical cooperation and action programmes for 2024 were also discussed. Emphasis was placed on priority sectors in development programmes put forward by Tunisia, as part of the strategic cooperation document for 2024/2028, and due to be submitted to the AfDB Board of Directors for approval. This mainly includes water, sanitation, the fight against climate change, agriculture and a sharpened competitive edge. The privileged cooperation between Tunisia and the AfDB was also praised along with the determination to keep on boosting and diversifying it to serve national interests. The ministry announced last May that Tunisia is gearing up to launch the Youth Entrepreneurship Investment Bank, in collaboration with the AfDB with a view to putting in place a mechanism that will help young entrepreneurs achieve their ambitions.
