The 3rd session of the Follow-up and Political Consultation Committee between Tunisia and Saudi Arabia was held on Sunday in Riyadh, under chairmanship of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Nabil Ammar and his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al Saud. The committee agreed to step up the pace of consultations between the two countries, to ensure regular and recurrent coordination meetings and to endeavour to speed up the resolution of the crises in certain "sister countries" so as to ensure security and stability in the Arab region, according to a Foreign Affairs Ministry press release. The proceedings of the 3rd session also focused on assessing cooperation relations, examining ways of further boosting them and widening their scope, as well as examining regional and international developments, and ways of consulting and coordinating the two countries' positions on some issues and crises in the region. Ammar pointed out the strong long-standing relations binding the two countries and peoples, commending the kingdom's position of support to Tunisia and its efforts in taking up the current challenges. The Saudi FM praised for his part, the brotherly relations binding the two countries and peoples, affirming the kingdom's confidence in the Tunisian leadership and its ability to iron out difficulties, and its willingness to further foster cooperation and partnership relations with Tunisia. The two ministers voiced satisfaction at the positive development of bilateral relations and agreed to convene the Joint Committee before the end of the year, activate cooperation mechanisms and meetings of sector-based and technical committees, which will contribute to further boost cooperation relations at various levels, notably trade and investment fields. The committee pointed out the cohesion between the two countries' positions on various regional and international issues of common interest.
