Packaged olive oil accounted for 9% of Tunisia's total exports in September, said the National Observatory of Agriculture (French : ONAGRI).
The remaining volume, 91%, was exported bulk and unbottled, data published Tuesday show. Extra virgin olive oil accounted for 82% of sales, with a total volume of 7,600 tonnes.
Olive oil export receipts amounted to TND 3.1 billion in the crop year 2022/23, that is 56.6% rise on last year in spite of a 1.7% drop in the volume of exports.
Packaged olive oil figures failed to match the objectives set out in government schemes to bolster the country's packaging capacities, mainly the creation of the Fund for the Promotion of the Exportation of Packaged Olive Oil in 2006.
