The Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) said in a public statement that supporters of the Free Destourian Party (PDL) and its president today attempted to storm the headquarters of the trade union centre and assault its staff. The UGTT denounced this attack on the Union and trade union action, the same source said. The UGTT executive bureau, which held an emergency meeting following the invasion, decided to initiate legal proceedings with the competent authorities to punish the attackers. The UGTT also denounced the slogans chanted by the attackers, which it said were identical to those chanted by the "Leagues for the Protection of the Revolution" during their attack on the UGTT headquarters at Mohamed Ali Square on December 4 2012, the same source said.
