Withholding 25% of Common Funds: Captain Traoré warns of alleged ‘saboteurs’

Tenkodogo: The President of the Transition, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, on Friday warned certain agents of the Ministry of Finance who would sabotage revenue collection actions, because they are not satisfied with the withholding of 25% on common funds (bonuses) to fight against terrorism.'In many structures, there are accomplices. Patriotism is lacking. Lately, we have been waiting for people to complain about certain players in the economy who are creating outages so that there are connection problems because they are not happy that we have taken 25% of their bonuses for the Patriotic Support Fund,' declared Head of State Ibrahim Traoré.The President of the Transition spoke on Friday in Tenkodogo with women and the active forces of the Center-East, on the occasion of the joint commemoration of the national forum and the celebration of the 167th edition of Women's Day .'Their colleagues must denounce them. If they don't do it, in any case, last week, we launched small investigators in certain tax and Treas ury services to find out if this is a widespread practice. And if that's the case, we're going to hit hard,' warned President Traoré.According to him, many agents did not find any problems when it came to withholding the 25% from bonuses to fund the Counter-Terrorism Fund (Patriotic Support Fund).'But some people, they are so hung up on it, they try to sabotage it. You leave to pay your taxes, they say there is no network. They create the problem. Ok. If they hear me or if anyone is in this room, they should stop. If it doesn't stop, we will go to 100% and then we will see if they will work or not,' he warned.'If this doesn't stop, we'll cut 100% of mutual funds. Like this, our student friends will have many amphitheaters,' added Ibrahim Traoré, eliciting applause from the students and whistles in the room.He also indicated that department heads must assume their responsibility if they do not want to be collateral victims.'Everyone must take responsibility. If the head of department does not punish the indelicate agent, you will all suffer. We will do like in the army: the punishment will be collective,' insisted the President of the Transition. For him, the soldier, like the civil servant, is at the service of the people. 'No soldier is there for himself. Likewise, a civil servant is not there for himself. They must serve the people. If you don't have this desire to serve, you have to resign to go to the private sector where you will do your business. Stay there sabotaging, we will not tolerate,' he concluded.Source: Burkina Information Agency
