“Yasmine Hammamet International Carnival new opportunity to promote Tunisian tourism at home and abroad” (Minister of Tourism)

Hammamet: The Yasmine Hammamet International Carnival is a new opportunity to promote Tunisian tourism at home and abroad," said the Minister of Tourism, Mohamed Moez Belhassine, on Saturday evening. Speaking to TAP on the occasion of the ninth edition of the Yasmine Hammamet International Carnival, Belhassine pointed out that "the organisation of this event, which has become a traditional date to launch the tourist season in the Hammamet region, is part of the activation and promotion programmes for various Tunisian tourist and non-tourist destinations. The International Carnival of Yasmine Hammamet featured marching and musical groups from eight foreign countries. It was also attended by a large crowd of more than 10,000 spectators, most of whom were parents, children and residents of the Yasmine Hammamet tourist station hotels. The Minister said that his visit to the resort had enabled him to assess its state and to identify ways of improving its preparations for the tourist season. It was agreed with r epresentatives of the private sector to develop an activation programme including exhibitions, festivals and annual cultural events at the integrated tourist station, which welcomes Tunisian families and visitors from many countries of the world, in order to put into practice the idea of "sustainable and responsible tourism", he said. The Minister added: "We look forward to the next tourist season with realistic optimism, based on several good indicators and renewed confidence in relations with our partners, both local and foreign, and confidence in Tunisia as a tourist destination, whether for Tunisian or foreign tourists". He stressed that the Ministry is continuing to make important preparations to implement the "Total Quality in Tourism" programme, from the airport to border crossings, tourist transport, hostels and tourist restaurants, in addition to archaeological sites and tourist environments. The success of this strategic programme requires the concerted efforts of all to make the season a success and promote Tunisian tourism as a vital sector for the national economy, he stressed. He noted that Tunisia's presence at several international tourism exhibitions has enabled it to attract major international companies to the Tunisian tourist destination, in light of the renewed confidence of tourism operators in Tunisia. He pointed out that the Ministry is keen to promote the destination, especially in the most promising markets, namely the distant markets, notably in Asia, especially in Indonesia, China, South Korea and South America, without neglecting the ongoing work to further promote tourism in the neighbourhood and Arab tourism in general. The International Carnival of Yasmine Hammamet, now in its ninth year, has contributed to the vitality of the tourist resort of Yasmine Hammamet, which has experienced a characteristically active evening. The event was attended by more than 10,000 spectators who stayed in the station's hostels or came out in large numbers to enjoy the performances of bands and m ajorettes from Tunisia, Croatia, Italy and France, and marching bands in their bright colours and carnival costumes.
