Boromo: The livestock market in Boromo is experiencing a slow start ahead of the Tabaski festival, as noted by AIB in sector 1 of the town. Despite the market being well-supplied, with prices ranging from 60,000 to 300,000 FCFA, customers seem to be delaying their purchases until the last moment.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the market is bustling with rams of various colors and sizes tethered to shrubs, stakes, or ropes, while their owners patiently await buyers. This scene highlights the challenging business climate for vendors, who have gathered in anticipation of the festival but are facing a lack of customer turnout.
A livestock seller mentioned that although the market is well-stocked with rams perfect for sacrifices and celebrations, there is a noticeable absence of buyers. He also noted that the prices of rams are decreasing as time progresses, adding to the vendors' concerns.
In Boromo, the cost of a ram fluctuates between 60,000 and 300,000 CFA francs, influenced by the specific preferences of buyers. Despite the current situation, vendors remain optimistic, hoping for a surge in sales as the day progresses and late shoppers arrive.
Additionally, the city has adhered to a ban on street sales of livestock, resulting in no street vendors being seen on the main streets this year, unlike previous years.
