Balé / Digitization of Health: The High Commissioner pleads for support for ASBCs

The top- Commissioner of the Balé province, Ibrahim Boly, chaired on Thursday, June 22 in Boromo, the information meeting of the administrative, customary and religious authorities on the "M-health" health system. or mobile health used by community-based health workers. This meeting was an opportunity for the provincial authority to plead for ASBC support.

The administrative authorities, traditional religious and many health actors participated in this information meeting organized by the health district of Boromo.

Faced with the many advantages of the "M-health" system, the High Commissioner of the Balé province, Ibrahim Boly, pleaded for support for community-based health workers (ASBC) in the Balé province.

In particular, he asked the participants to highlight the advantages of the new health mechanism in order to facilitate the work of the ASBCs.

According to the chief medical officer of the district, Dr Hyppolite Bouda, it is a question of explaining to the authorities the mechanism of digitization of community health, made available to the ASBCs of the province of Balé.

During the meeting, the district management team gave a reminder on the Integrated Management of Childhood Illness in the Community (PCIME-C).

This presentation made it possible to better understand the issues of the need for "digitalization of the community health system M-health", the main communication of the meeting.

"M-health or mobile health" according to the explanations of the district management team is the use of the mobile phone to collect health information, in order to send it to the database of the health information systems department of the district. Ministry of Health.

According to Chief Medical Officer Bouda, the ASBCs in the province were formed in April 2023 and have been equipped with Android devices for carrying out their activities in the community since last May.

According to him, “M-health” is a new, easy tool for caring for sick children at community level by guiding the agent and strengthening their skills.

Dr. Bouda said that this health system also contributes to the reduction of maternal, neonatal and infant-child mortality.

In a practical way, the participants followed a demonstration of the management of an example of a patient's case.

This new mechanism for health care in rural areas appealed to them and however, they expressed their concerns while making contributions, in order to make the ASBCs more available and more effective.
