Burkina: Economic affairs agents unite for greater efficiency

Economic affairs agents set up on Saturday in Ouagadougou, a federating organization for their profession called the National Union of Economic Affairs Agents of Burkina Faso (UNAAE-BF) with President Alidou Ouédraogo. The National Union of Economic Affairs Agents of Burkina Faso (UNAAE-BF) was established on Saturday April 27, 2024 during a constitutive general assembly in Ouagadougou. It brought together all categories of economic affairs agents 'without exception'. At the end of the work, the participants' choice fell on the economic affairs advisor, Alidou Ouédraogo, to preside over the destiny of the umbrella organization for the next three years. He is the head of an executive office of 16 members and two auditors. According to the file of the Human Resources Directorate of the ministry responsible for trade, the total number of active economic affairs employment agents scattered throughout the country's ministries and institutions is around a thousand. The advent of the UNAAE-BF will therefore make it possible, according to its president, to create more solidarity between the body's agents, to improve their contribution to economic debates through intellectual production, particularly through studies, scientific journals, etc. and allow the body to be valued by ensuring it has more visibility. Already, in the coming days, explained Alidou Ouédraogo, the union plans to organize the first conference of the body of economic affairs. A scientific council for intellectual production will also be established and funds raised for the patriotic support fund. Technical advisor Aboubacar Nacro conveyed the congratulations and encouragement of the minister responsible for trade to the assembly but also the latter's commitment to supporting the UNAAE-BF in achieving its 'noble' objectives. For the representative of the head of the ceremony, the initiative is timely in the sense that it will constitute a force of proposals and reflections in order to meet the challenges facing the economy, the financial sector an d the Burkinabe industry. 'If these thoughts and proposals are taken into account, magnificent things could be done for the nation and the populations with regard to the intellectual consistency of the members of this association. Our expectations are therefore that the Union will take initiative proposals in all sectors of the economy,' insisted Mr. Nacro. Originally, the jobs in the economic affairs body (Economic Affairs Advisors, Economic Affairs Assistants and Economic Affairs Assistants) were dedicated to the ministry in charge of planning and economic affairs, then to that in charge of economic affairs, trade, industry and investment. Subsequently the body migrated to the Ministry of Finance and Trade. For the last forty years, the body has been attached to the ministry in charge of trade but the specificity of planners and financiers of the agents means that they are found in almost all ministries.
