Burkina: the Léo-Neboun axis cleared for smoother and safer traffic

The active forces of the province of Sissili mobilized on Saturday April 20, 2024 for the clearing of the Léo-Nebboun section of the RN6 linking Ouagadougou to Léo, noted a journalist from the AIB. This activity, organized under the presidency of the High Commissioner of the province, Tewendé Isaac Sia, saw a strong mobilization of provincial directors and department heads, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) as well as volunteers who came to lend a helping hand to improve traffic on this strategic axis. Indeed, the Léo-Nebboun section of the RN6 had become almost impassable due to the invasive vegetation which obstructed the passage of users and constituted a real danger for road safety. Faced with this situation, the provincial authorities, in collaboration with CSOs as well as the populations of the localities concerned, decided to take matters in hand and organize this large-scale clearing operation. The participants, armed with machetes, chainsaws and other suitable tools, rolled up their sleeves to c lean and clear this national road 6, thus allowing vehicles to circulate more fluidly and safely. This initiative, carried out with determination and enthusiasm by the inhabitants of the province of Sissili, demonstrates their desire to actively contribute to the endogenous development of the province, starting from Burkina Faso as a whole. Indeed, the RN6 linking Ouagadougou to Léo, the Ghana border, undoubtedly contributes to the socio-economic development of the Sissili province. The High Commissioner of Sissili, Tewendé Isaac Sia, for the launch of this operation, welcomed the commitment and availability of civil society organizations in Sissili for this citizen initiative. 'I would like, on behalf of the highest authorities of the country, to thank and congratulate the different social strata of the province who responded to the call to make this section passable. This action is in line with the President of Faso's call for commitment and patriotic participation,' he said. It should be noted the remar kable presence of the FDS and VDP who not only ensured the safety of all participants and the smooth running of the operation in calm and serenity, but also put their hands to work. Their presence was therefore essential to prevent any incident and ensure the success of the event. Source: Burkina Information Agency
