CAN2023: rewards for the best players in the competition

Abidjan: At the end of the final of the 34th edition of CAN 2023, the African Football Confederation (CAF) designated the best teams and players who best illustrated themselves during the tournament which took place from January 13 to February 11, 2024 in 5 cities in Côte d'Ivoire, it was noted. It was the Ivory Coast, the host country which won the grail by finishing as African champion at the end of the final which was played this Sunday at the Alassane Ouattara stadium in Ebimpé in Abidjan. The Elephants therefore win the trophy, the gold medal and the sum of more than 7 million dollars, or more than 4.2 billion FCFA. Nigeria finished vice-champion and won the silver medal and the sum of more than 2.4 billion FCFA. South Africa finished with the bronze medal and the fair play team trophy of the competition, leaving DR Congo just off the podium. The best actors of the CAN Several players performed well in this 34th CAN . It was the Equatorial Guinean Emilio Nsué who was the top scorer. He scored 5 goals including a double against Ivory Coast and a hat-trick in his team's 4-2 victory against Guinea-Bissau. Nigeria captain and central defender William Troost-Ekong was named by CAF as the best player in the entire competition. The title of best goalkeeper went to South African goalkeeper Ronwen Williams, whose heroic saves, especially the 4 shots on goal saved against Cape Verde in the CAN quarter-final, will go down in the annals of African football. The CAN Côte d'Ivoire 2023 took place from January 13 to February 11, 2024 in 5 cities in the country, namely Abidjan, Bouaké, Yamoussoukro, San Pédro and Korhogo.
