EBRD launches call for businesses to benefit from climate change innovation programme

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has launched a call for applications for businesses to benefit from its Climate Change Innovation Programme, funded by the Netherlands through the High Impact Partnership for Climate Action (HIPCA). The call is open to companies in five countries - Tunisia, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco and Egypt - with innovative and well-developed ideas that can contribute to the fight against climate change through innovation. Projects covered by the programme include climate adaptation, mitigation and biodiversity measures. Selected companies will have the opportunity to work with researchers and developers to test and assess the feasibility of their projects. They will receive grants of up to pound 20,000. Eligible services include feasibility research, software and hardware development, prototyping and testing. The HIPCA was launched by the EBRD and partner governments during COP26 in Glasgow, Scotland, in 2021. Its main objectives are to stimulate investments and solutions that reduce or prevent greenhouse gas emissions, strengthen resilience, reduce vulnerability to climate change and protect the environment. The partnership with the EBRD focuses on eight thematic areas. These include energy systems, sustainable food systems, green financial systems, cities and environmental infrastructure, and natural capital. They also include cross-cutting issues: climate adaptation and resilience, just transition, gender and economic inclusion. Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
