Italian PM to make official visit to Tunisia next week

President Kais Saied, on Friday, had a phone call with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, focusing on bilateral relations and the strategic partnership between Tunisia and the European Union.

They discussed the initiative launched by President Saied to hold a high-level conference between the countries concerned by the migration issue, said a Presidency statement.

The initiative concern, in particular, North African countries, those of the Sahel and Sahara and countries of the northern shore of the Mediterranean. The aim is to tackle the causes of irregular migration and identify appropriate ways of putting an end to the resulting humanitarian crisis.

The Presidency also said in the statement the Italian Prime Minister has accepted the invitation of President Saied to make an official visit to Tunisia next week.
